The North Upper Truckee neighborhood is mountain living at its finest. With a plethora of mountain views, meadows, and the Truckee River running through it, residents can experience a full range of outdoor recreation. North Upper Truckee is one of the first neighborhoods you pass as you enter the basin from Echo Summit and extends all the way to The Y on the north side of Hwy 50. This neighborhood is ideal for full time residents since the number of vacation homes in this area is lower than other parts of South Lake Tahoe. Many of the lots are adjacent to Forest Service land, and have incredible views of Echo Peak and the Angora Ridge.
Families are drawn to this neighborhood for its proximity to the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School and the Tahoe Paradise Park, home to Lake Baron. The park includes a picnic area, tennis courts, and access to the lake and river.
The Angora Fire in 2007 caused many homes in the North Upper Truckee neighborhood to burn down, which has led the way to lots of new construction homes. Many of the new homes are surrounded by empty parcels allowing for extra privacy and incredible views. Like many Tahoe neighborhoods, home styles are mixed and prices range from $200,000 to $1,500,000 and the median home price is $469,000 (12/2014).
